I bet no one missed my movie reviews. PFFT. It's okay. I'm still gonna do it anyways. I think I missed documenting my review for... Percy Jackson. But that was a delicious, great fantasy movie and very entertaining (just not equipped with a very, very awesome, unpredictable plot) so needed no further review.
14 Blades on the other hand, is more post-worthy because... you guessed it... MY HUSBAND IS THE LEAD ACTOR.
Zomg. I just LOVE Donnie Yen. L-O-V-E - LOVE!
Zomg. He's the perfect MAN. You know, like a real, masculine, hot-bodied kind of man. I think God created men to follow Donnie's model, but not many achieved this target. Pity. But still, thank God that someone like him exists. There's hope for mankind. Just his appearances on the big screens excite me beyond words. ZOMG I LOVE YOU.
(No, I'm not being a crazy fangirl or groupie. It's just that he's very praise worthy.)
To the NSmen-to-be, may you emerge as a true man after the two years or so. Join the league of Donnie Yen :DDDD
Anyways, I still have yet to touch on the movie. Well, maybe it's cuz I'm trying to procrastinate... See, the thing is that the movie is not even brilliant at all. It's only average for it's plot. Though the art direction is quite fabulous (zomg, Donnie's afro long hair *SQUEALS!*). And so is the action choreography, although I would prefer the action sequences in Flash Point and Ip Man (pronounced eep-meun, NOT I. P. MAN!!) any day.
Plus, it's great to see Donnie, that Qi Yu Wu guy, and Xiao Yan Zi (Zhao Wei) together in the same show after Painted Skin (which was rather awesome, I thought). NOT TO MENTION THE ADDED ROLE OF WU CHUN. LOLL. Sure to send fangirls rolling in their... cinema seats.
Even though I think the display of Donnie's bulging tattooed muscles are more to-die-for than Wu Chun's come-hither, semi-revealed, younger six packs (sp?).
WHOOTS. I love Donnie's movies. I think he actually speaks Cantonese in his movies, but people have to dub him. Not that it sounds bad like animes do when dubbed in English. His sounds good [: But it gets rather telling when they have close-ups of him in the movie. For instance, his dub was saying yes (shi1) in Mandarin but his lips were obviously mouthing yes (haye) in Cantonese.
Or I'm just being fussy again. Oops.
All in all, not an entirely awesome show, but definitely worth any ticket money if you love Donnie Yen for being Donnie Yen... LOLL.
I thought that the plot wasn't exceptional because it didn't come with a fixed aim for the characters to achieve from the beginning till the end. You kind of lose track of the flow while watching, like you don't know if this was the climax already or not.
Anyways, I'm just kind of picky. Like how I kept noticing the wig's plastic-esque lining against Donnie's hairline during his close-ups. I mean, it's already the 21st century and they still can't hide the hairline plastic thing? Not like it's some Huang Fei Hong show made in the 80's or 90's. Speaking of Huang Fei Hong... the ending scene was a totallllllllll rip-off from Huang Fei Hong movies. LOLL. Typical Chinese kungfu kind of show ending :D nice!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR IP MAN 2. I know it in my bones that he won't disappoint.
Trivia: While walking home from JP, I decided on naming my first son Donnie (after all the hooha about Chace and Chester) after my favourite actor/entertainer of all time. It was only at that time that I understood the derivation of his English name Donnie. It's cuz his Chinese name when spoken in Cantonese is Yen Tze Don. DONNIE! :DDDDDD

I think I haven't been blogging for two weeks consecutively... or three? I lost track. Time flew, really [:
Mostly, I worked, I attend church services and am growing as a baby christian, and I read. The Cinderella Pact is a great book :D not liking the ending exactly (then again, I hardly like endings), but the writing style is hilarious, and the contents are SOOOO relevant!
Not to mention that I've been swimming with peisi my health pal and attending my weekly korean classes. I swear I need to step up the class frequency cuz I lose focus too easily. And I need to pick up a guitar lesson before going to the U (if I can make it there, that is). And I need to make a call and save up enough money for *******.
And I need to make up with my old friends. It's weird. I fell out with about four of them all in one year. Hahaha.
God will give me strength to find them back.
Funny how there are so many things that I don't understand, certain second-hand revelations that aren't sown deep in me yet, and I still am keeping the faith. Maybe cuz I know that faith is more important than understanding and knowing now.
If only I can stop thinking with my brain and start processing with my heart.
I just packed my room! It's urh, semi-done, if I may say so myself. Hmph. I figured that my secret place should be kept clean because He is holy and pure after all. Bahahaha, I've given some thought to this.
